Born in 1974 in Toronto, Canada, Daniel Negreanu originally aspired to be a professional snooker player. The time that he spent in the pool halls introduced him to a wide variety of hustlers and gamblers, and the game of poker quickly caught his attention. After dropping out of high school to play poker, just a few credits short of graduation, Negreanu moved to Vegas and in 1998, at the age of 23, and became the youngest player to ever win a World Series of Poker bracelet. He has since garnered a reputation as one of the greatest players, due to his incredibly accurate reads of his opponents’ cards. In 2004 he was voted Player of the Year, and although he hasn’t (yet) won the WSOP main event, he has amassed a total of tournament earnings second only to Jamie Gold, winner of the $12 million 2006 main event first prize. Negreanu has contributed to a number of instructional texts, websites, and videos, including the excellent poker training site PokerVT.com
